Some years ago (around 2012?) I started playing with the idea of using the photographic medium – an art form traditionally thought of as definitively representational – for non-representational expression. The idea – to use long exposures, camera motion and focal-length shifts – seemed very clever to me at the time. I even went so far as to publish a collection of favourites in a book entitled Rogue Waves. I still find the resulting images intriguing, although I get mixed reviews from others.
